Friends of the murdered Tema-based legal practitioner, Lawyer Samuel Blay are offering a whopping GHS20,000 for anyone who has information that would lead to the arrest of the one who stabbed him with a supposed broken bottle.
Lawyer Blay, Head of Blay and Associate Chambers, was stabbed in the neck in his black VW Passat at an unspecified location in Tema and he managed to drive to the Tema General Hospital with the sharp bottle in his neck.Reports say he managed to write the phone number of a relative but could not provide a name or even the location of the incident before he passed away at the hospital.Meanwhile his colleague lawyer, James Enu told Adom News that, Lawyer Blay was a good man and very professional at his work.Lawyer Enu noted that the deceased was an all-round lawyer, but was particularly successful with marine cases, adding that recently he won a very big case in the high court involving a very prominent person in Ghana. He stopped short of drawing a link between the kind of cases he handled and the unfortunate incident, saying that at this stage, it was too early to draw such links.“We are trained to see opposing lawyers in a court case as colleagues and not as enemies or adversaries so it is difficult for me to link this unfortunate incident to a court case he was involved in,” he said.Lawyer Enu noted that there were risks in the law practice just as there were in other professions, and that such incidents are a wake-up call to lawyers about their security and protection.Meanwhile the late lawyer’s neighbours at his community three residence expressed great shock when the news got to them.According to some of the residents, the deceased lawyer should have lived to reap from his generosity. They described the late Lawyer Blay as a “good Samaritan” in his neighbourhood and profession.Even though the Police have stepped up their investigations into the matter, the neighbours of the deceased lawyer want a fast-tracked one to unravel the mystery surrounding his death. They remain optimistic that the one behind this unfortunate incident will be arrested and dealt with.
