The Food and Drugs (FDB) said on Wednesday that the absence of a proper address system in the country was a major difficulty in effectively tracing manufacturers and distributors of products for effective regulation.
Mr. Kwamena Van-Ess, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Food of the Board, therefore called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to expedite the action on street and house coding to make it easy to trace addresses.
Speaking to GNA in Accra, he noted that although FDB was committed to its regulatory functions and imposed sanction where necessary, dishonesty and apathy on the part of some manufacturers made their work difficult.
He stated that foreign importers and manufacturers were more committed than their local counterparts to participate in workshops organised by the Board to sensitise them.
Mr. Van-Ess advised consumers to assist the Board with any information on unregistered and unwholesome products on the market and also desist from consuming them.
