Accra Hearts of Oak’s dependable defender, Philip Boampong has attributed his performance in Sunday’s week 7 encounter with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the ongoing Glo Premier League to his elder brother. The first dose of the much anticipated match between the two most glamorous clubs in the country came off on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium ending in a scoreless draw. But one person who might take the plaudit for that score line is Philip Boampong who managed to put Ahmed Toure, Kotoko’s top marksman, in check until he was pulled out.Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Sports Morning Show on Monday, he said he had vowed not to allow Ahmed Toure to cause any havoc on the day and that accounted for his display on the field of play. When asked if his performance had got something to do with what his brother, Dan Coleman did at the same venue with the same club four seasons ago when he held then Kotoko’s top marksman Eric Bekoe in check, he said yes.According to him, he spoke with his brother and he advised him on how to deal with the situation and he applied it.Boampong said he was grateful to his brother since everything worked to perfection and promised not to be complacent but rather work hard to become a complete defender that Ghanaians will be proud of.
