Ghana Assistant Coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Akwasi Appiah has revealed to ASEMPA Sports that the final list for the AFCON 2012 will be released in December.
The Black Stars won their last fifa sanctioned international friendly against Gabon in France last Wednesday and are gradually strategizing for the tournament come next year
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Sports Morning Show on Tuesday, he said the technical team intends working with 25-30 players from December 13 to December 20, 2011 before the team is finally pruned down to 23.
According to Coach Akwasi Appiah, the technical team has a fair idea of the team to send to the Cup of Nations but will not shut the door on any brilliant talent who might have not been in their initial plans.
Ghana is lodged in Group D with Botswana, Mali and Guinea and will be hoping to break their cup drought when the competition kicks off on January 21 to February 12, 2012.
Coach Akwasi Appiah also touched on player sabotage; a canker which might derail their efforts of annexing the ultimate diadem.
According to him player sabotage in teams is normally due to unhealthy relationship between Coaches and players.
He indicated that when the disaffection between the technical team and the players grow to a certain unbearable point it can lead to players sabotaging the technical team.
