Premier League Board Boss, Mr. Welbeck Abra Appiah has endorsed the notion that national teams belong to the nation.
The debate on who owns the national teams has reached new levels with varying views proffered for who must foot the salaries of the seven junior national team coaches.
And the PLB Boss’ assertion is bound to add to the already growing debate as a lot of big shots in the game are differing in opinions.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show on Friday, Mr. Abra Appiah said the national teams with their current trappings clearly show they belong to the government.
According to him, the mere fact that they are national teams even suggest the ownership and cannot possibly belong to any private individual or institution.
Meanwhile the PLB Boss has confirmed to Asempa Sports that the Week 8 match of the ongoing Premier League between Tema Youth and Bechem Utd has been postponed from Saturday 26th November, 2011 to Sunday 27th November, 2011.
He explained that the postponement is to enable the sporting director of Tema Youth, Mr. Winfred Osei Pama and other executives of the football fraternity pay their last respects to the late father of Mr. Osei Pama.
