Ghanaian and Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says he believes strongly Ghana’s squad for the Afcon tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea will make the nation proud.
He says it is not the time to debate on who ought to be in the team but rather, Ghanaians should rally behind the team spiritually and physically for better results.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s sports show, Fire for Fire, on Monday, he said, Ghanaians should give the coach, Goran Stevanovic all the necessary backing to guide Ghana to end the 30 years trophy drought.
“If Ghana wins the trophy, it won’t be said 'Goran Black Stars' has won it but rather, Ghana Black Stars, so every Ghanaian should wish us well in other to achieve our target in the tournament.
The 2009 Under-20 World Cup gold medalist who is recovering from an injury he suffered last Thursday night in Udinese’s 1-1 with Celtic believes he will be fit before the tournament commences and made it clear that he, together with his team mates, will go the extra mile to lift the flag of Ghana high.
He also expressed his joy over Andre Dede Ayew’s 2011 BBC Africa footballer of the year award and hoped it stayed in Ghana some more.
