A mass burial has been proposed for victims of Tuesday night's tragic accident that killed 27 people including a pregnant woman at Senya Beraku in the Central Region.
Neenyi Kwabentum IV, Tufuhene of Senya Beraku says the victims must be buried either Thursday or Friday since conditions at the Winneba Government Hospital make it impossible to keep the bodies for long.
He told Joy FM that apart from the large number of the dead, their mangled bodies require an immediate burial.
The 27 were among others who had lined the streets in making merry when an out of control water tanker said to have lost its brakes ran into them late Tuesday night and crushed them to death.
About 30 others are on admission at the hospital with some of them needing amputation.
Neenyi Kwabentum who called the accident a tragic event said attempts earlier to warn people against the dangers of keeping festive celebrations on the streets were resisted by the people. He expressed sympathy with the bereaved and said it is time the people learn some lessons from the bitter experience.
