Two farmers have been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment each by a magistrate’s court at Mankranso for conspiracy to steal and stealing a sheep worth GH¢50 (500,000 cedis) at Bonkwaso in the Ahafo-Ano South District.
Kwame Manu, 40, and Kwame Yeboah, 25, pleaded guilty and were convicted on their own plea.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Abraham Agyei Mensah told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on August 19 this year, the complainant, Yaw Gyamfi detected the theft of the sheep in his pen and caused the gong-gong to be beaten to alert the thief to return the animal.
He said Manu, terrified by the measures the owner had threatened to take if the sheep was not returned, approached the owner and confessed to stealing the animal and mentioned Yeboah as his accomplice.
A report was made to the police at Mankranso and the two were arrested.Source: GNA
