Lawyer for former Head of Operations at the Narcotics Control Board, Ben Ndego says he will meet with Alhaji Abass’s lawyers over the possibility of getting his client to testify in the on-going cocaine trial.
Lawyer Thaddeus Sory says his client, Mr. Ndego is willing to testify but his conditions must be met.
The Fast track high court trying Tagor and Alhaji Abass for narcotic offences has subpoenaed Mr. Ndego to testify in the ongoing trial. But in a response to the subpoena from the United Kingdom where he’s studying, Ndego says he is willing to return to Ghana to testify but Alhaji Abbass, who’s seeking to use his testimony to enhance his case must bear the travel expenses.
Alhaji Abass told the court he was contracted by Mr. Ndego to record the secret meeting between the suspected drug barons and ACP Kofi Boakye to enable the Narcotics Control Board ascertain Kofi Boakye’s level of involvement in the drug trade.
Lawyer Thaddeus Sory told JOY News his client will come down if the conditions were met, but wondered how his testimony would enhance Alhaji Abass’ defence suggesting it didn’t sound like a good idea to get him to give evidence.
He said he would meet with Alhaji Abass’s lawyers to discuss the kind of testimony they want from his client and the possibility of facilitating his travel.
