Scheme Managers of the Mutual National Health Insurance Scheme (MNHIS) in the Western Region, have ended a two-day workshop which reviewed the performance of the Regional Scheme Managers in 2011.
Mr Francis Asante-Mensah, Regional Manager of the MNHIS impressed on the managers to adopt innovative techniques in handling the scheme and re-think the way of attaining results at the least cost.
He asked them to strive to improve and perfect the system for the benefit of customers.
Mr Asante-Mensah asked the participants to roll out their conceived plans for the year by targeting 50 per cent enrolment of fresh clients and another 50 per cent for customers who would renew their insurance cover.
“Whatever means you adopt to achieve the regional target of 50 per cent you (participants) should take due cognisance of the principles of cost effectiveness,” he said.
Mr Asante-Mensah reminded them that cost containment had always been a key factor under pinning all engagement of the National Health Insurance Authority.
He expressed appreciation to the government for timely honouring the payment of claims saying; “last year witnessed massive improvement in the direction of settlement of claims... to our dear service providers”.
During the interactive session most of the scheme managers mentioned inadequate accommodation and staffing as major challenges facing them and called for immediate redress.
