The Eastern Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to the people of Suhum, especially the youth to calm down and co-operate with the security agencies to help arrest those behind the serial killings in the Suhum township.
The party advised the youth to give any information at their disposal which could help track down the killers in the township and bring the security situation in the town to normalcy to the security agencies.
This was contained in a press statement read by the Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Anthony Gyampoh at Koforidua on Thursday.
On behalf of the party, Mr. Gaympoh expressed the condolences of the party to the bereaved families and expressed the sympathy to those who survived the attack of the killers.
He appealed to the political leadership of the Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District to be circumspect in talking about such sensitive issues so that it enjoyed the support of the people and not to arouse their emotions into unnecessary violence.
Mr. Gyampoh said the NDC was much disturbed about the way the political leadership of the district was "down playing" such a serious issue and observed that in similar situation in Yendi and Deja, the country was made to believe that nothing serious was happening only to be confronted with a very serious situation that led to loss of lives, property and huge national economic resources.
The party called on the Government to be more forthright in the Suhum issue and avoid any action or utterances that could worsen the security situation in the area and create suspicion and mistrust among the people.
