The Chief Executive Office
Millennium Development Authority
Accra.
January 29, 2012.
Dear Sir,
OPEN LETTER TO MIDA, AMA, NADMO AND HYDROLOGICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT ON IMMINENT FLOODS IN DZORWULU COMMUNITY AS A RESULT OF INCOMPLETE DRAINAGE CHANNELS LINKED TO THE N1 ROAD.
I write to openly petition your office and city authorities about the point of termination of drainage works linked to the N1 Road that runs through the Dzorwulu Community and to request that you take urgent steps to extend the drainage into the Onyansa River.
The current point of termination; at the Valley View Clinic junction is incomplete, as the drainage forms part of the natural course of the Onyansa River. Should you leave it that way, you would directly put hundreds of family and household lives in harms way, as flow from the Valley View Clinic junction would not have access to the river. It would end up in people’s homes with consequences that can be avoided.
Please note that construction of the total 1100 metres or so, drainage linking the N1 to the Onyansa River is an absolute necessity. The 550 metres constructed so far, is appreciated. However, the remaining 550 metres stretch of lower ground to the Onyansa River, which is a flood prone area, is even more critical requiring your urgent attention ahead of the rains in May/June 2012.
Residents will feel let down and compelled to take legal action against you and city authorities for negligence of duty should you do nothing to avert this imminent disaster that has been brought to your attention openly and on time.
Signed:
William Dowokpor
MP Aspirant
Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
