Criminologist, Professor Ken Attafuah has lauded the Police Service for reorganizing its leadership structure.
He said the shake up in the top hierarchy is in the right direction.
The Inspector General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye yesterday made major changes in the service, reshuffling about ten commanders.
The administration said the shake-up is for effective management and operational control.
Speaking to Joy FM, Professor Ken Attafuah said officers must be moved periodically in order to maintain efficiency in the service.
“The regional commanders swapping regions is most welcome. I think in general all of these are fairly appropriate transfers operation wise.
“People should not stay too long in one position such that they develop deeper roots than it’s appropriate for operational effectiveness, command and control.
He lauds the IGP for making the strategic changes.
“The changes are quite strategic. I think the IGP must have kept his ears on the ground about the compelling needs to enhance security and also greater sensitivity in doing policing in an election year,” he said.
