The music industry in Ghana is gradually becoming one of the biggest and highly recognized industries. Apart from the old music genres we use to know more have been introduced like Hiplife, Hip-dia and the current spec introduced by Chemphe known as the “Urban Life music”. This is a type of music he describes as the fusion of R&B and all the perfect cultures of all the music genres. His appearance on the scene late last year with his hit single “No Pampanaa” received massive air play on both radio and television but yet the response was not so encouraging as expected until the release of “Menka” and currently “Why you dey treat am bad” which came in as a big bang to shoot sales and publicity up. Presently he is highly recognized internationally and at number 7 on MTV Base Chart Show and number one on both OBE TV and Passion TV in London. Chemphe will be launching his “Why you dey treat am bad” with a nation wide tour backed with his other tracks and this will also be used for the campaign against Domestic Violence with support from the Ministry Of Women and Children Affairs and other agencies. The campaign will be aimed at education the public on domestic violence. The music minded man, Chemphe, is almost through with his second platinum album with the aid of his able sound engineer Kaywa of Groove Zone Records and this time is a two separate album released at once. That is; one for the international market titled “Music Soul” and “You and Me” for the local market. Henry Agyekum Chemphe confidently claims music has been part of him since infancy but recalls doing music professionally about six years ago. He said he really had the opportunity of exhibiting his musical talent back in his secondary school days at Ghana National College and usually performed during entertainment hours. He said many thought he was the entertainment prefect instead of been a House Prefect. His musical career has taken him to countries like the United Kingdom, Togo and Burkina Faso to perform.
