Ghanaian-German Hollywood actor, Boris Kodjoe and his wife Nicole, paid a courtesy visit to FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, on Sunday, January 7th, 2018.
The visit by the couple was to acquaint themselves with the facility as well as spend time with children undergoing complex spine treatments at the facility.
The couple, who were moved by the Founder, CEO and President, Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei’s vision to establish an ultra-modern facility that serves people with complex spine conditions, especially children, have been involved in the work of the hospital’s mother Foundation in the United States of America, where they reside.
Boris and Nicole, who have been in Ghana over the past weeks, used the opportunity to get a first-hand experience on the hospital’s operations by interacting with some members of Management, staff and paediatric patients.
At the hospital, they were received by the Founder together with some members of the Management staff.
Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei recounted the story of how he conceived the vision of the hospital and the impact the hospital has made since its inception.
“Currently FOCOS sees patients from about 25 countries across the globe with several complex spine and general Orthopaedic conditions,” Prof. Boachie-Adjei said.
He added that the rareness of Specialist facilities like FOCOS and the inability of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to cover orthopaedic health care has been a challenge to many children who require urgent attention.
The Director of Medical Services at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Dr. Gerhard Ofori-Amankwah gave the couple a guided tour of the facility.

Boris and Nicole also gave an account of how they became involved with the work FOCOS as well as their impression after.
“I am very impressed at the amazing and comprehensive care being given to especially children who might have fallen through the cracks, had it not been for a hospital like FOCOS,” Boris said.
He was also impressed by the level of technology used at the hospital and compared FOCOS to other facilities in the US.
His wife Nicole was also impressed at the level of expertise the hospital had at its disposal.
“I have seen many specialists in different parts of the world and I must say it’s surprising to see specialists of great stature like the ones at FOCOS.
Boris Kodjoe hosted the 2018 edition of the CAF Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday, January 4.
Located in the Pantang area of Accra, FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital is a 70-bed Specialist Orthopaedic Hospital, and is noted for the treatment of complex spine and joint diseases like Scoliosis, Kyphosis as well as other degenerative and deformative Orthopaedic conditions.
