Troops of 66th Artillery Regiment in Ho will donate blood yearly to the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho to herald the annual Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of the Asogli State.
Lt Col Emmanuel Kotia, Commanding Officer of the regiment, said this on Wednesday when he led soldiers from the regiment to donate 71 units of blood to the bank.
He said the exercise was part of the regiment's policy to sustain military/civilian rapport in the region.
Mr Vincent Fekpe, Officer in charge of the blood bank said that the present stock levels were not the best and appealed to organized groups to donate blood to the bank.
He said the blood bank was normally starved of blood when schools went on vacation since students represented the largest identifiable group of regular donors.
Major General Samuel Annum Odotei, Chief of Army Staff inaugurated a 120 million-cedi Internet Cafe for the regiment.
