Mr Kwasi Oppong, a Kumasi-based Business Executive, has called on indigenous businesses to ensure that their products meet quality standards.
Mr Oppong, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwasi Oppong Company Limited, dealers in building materials, said it was by doing this that they could become competitive and attract increased local patronage.
He said this in Amakom when speaking at the opening of a five-day Christian business forum organized by the Grace Baptist Church, adding that without quality assurance they were likely to lose out to their foreign competitors.
The forum dubbed “Doing business God’s way” formed part of efforts by the church to promote entrepreneurship among the congregation.
Mr Oppong said innovation and creativity were important to drive down the production costs and make their prices competitive and appealed to government to provide more funds to research institutions to help in that effort.
Mr Kofi Akowuah Kyei, the CEO of MOFCO Furniture Company Limited, urged those operating business to have proper business plans, remain focused and to adopt best practices.
Dr Kwame Danso, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), called on the participants to adopt a disciplined approach if they want their businesses to succeed.
