This year’s Easter paragliding festival in Kwahu suffered a decline in revenue compared to that of last year. This has been largely blamed on bad weather conditions which caused disruption in flights. The annual event, organized by the Tourism Authority, is meant to diversify and add value to the country’s tourism potential.
Special Events Manager of the Authority, Benjamin Anane Nsiah, in an interview told Joy Business that even though there was a general boost in business activity this year, paragliding which costs GHS100 per flight suffered losses.
He explained that about a hundred people on the waiting list could not be flown on Easter Sunday because the weather was bad and that “the whole of Monday we couldn’t fly at all.”Mr Nsiah added that a lot more support will be needed from the private sector to boost the potential of tourism in Ghana.
