The Effiduase-Asokore Member of Parliament (MP) in collaborating with the St. John's Hospital and Mécénat Chirurgie cardiaque, will be organising a free heart screening for children in Accra.
The programme titled 'Healing little Hearts' is scheduled for March 12-16, 2018.
It will be spearheaded by medical personnel from both St. John's Hospital, located at Tantra Roundabout near Taifa in Accra, and Mécénat Chirurgie cardiaque in France.
Children between the ages of six months to 15 years will be screened by heart surgeons from France with support from the National Cardio-Thoracic Centre, Korle Bu.
Those found to be critically ill will be airlifted to Paris, France for free surgery.
NPP MP Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, the brain behind the gesture, said: his aim is to invite the world-class surgeons to Ghana to help fight heart-related problems among kids.
He emphasised that “Heart disease is a silent killer. In fact, many people never realised they’re at risk until it’s too late.”
Dr Ayew Afriyie has urged parents to take advantage of the "free screening" program to prevent and protect their kids from heart diseases.
