Tema-based Power FC continued with their winning spirit on Sunday and thumped visiting Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals by two goals to one in their OneTouch Premier League encounter at the Ho Sports Stadium.
Power started the game on a low key allowing Liberty to determine the pace of the game for the first quarter of the match but they gradually warmed up in the dying minutes of the first half and created a few chances, which they squandered.
Liberty who dominated the attack and were on top of proceedings upfront were however unable to find the net.
Four minutes into the second half, Power increased the pressure on Liberty and earned a free kick outside the penalty box, which was beautifully converted by Francis Coffie in the 49th minute for the opener.
Liberty fought back with swift passes and quickly got the equalizer in the 56th minute through Sheriff Danlardi whose long range shot went beyond the reach of Alfred Mills in goal for Power.
Three minutes later, Power's Addo Adokwei Daniel was jostled in the 18-yard area of Liberty in a goalmouth melee and the home team was awarded a spot kick, which was again converted by Coffie to increase his side's tally to two.
Liberty marshalled all their energy in an effort to level up the scores in the dying minutes but they were denied on several occasions by the defence of Power centered around "Clearance-man" Moses Abban who was however shown the red card in the 90th minute for delay play.
Francis Coffie was adjudged man of the match.
