Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a 55 year old palmwine tapper who together with his two sons allegedly defiled a 13 year old girl.
The girl is said to be four months pregnant after bouts of sex from the suspects.
An uncle to the victim Togbui Kofi Atsi Ametefe told Joy News the palmwine tapper induced his niece with money and defiled her.
According to him, the son of the palmwine tapper caught his father defiling the girl and afterwards decided to threaten the girl to have sex with him or risk being reported to the girl’s family.
Togbui Ametefe said her niece gave in and slept with the son of the palmwine tapper, adding the young brother of the second suspect also saw the two have sex and also decided to have his share.
“We discovered the girl was moving in a way we did not like, what was happening, the girl didn’t say.
“Upon examination it became evident the girl was pregnant,” he narrated.
The sons of the palmwine tapper are said to have absconded.
Eastern Regional Police Commander ACP James Azuma Abass-Abaa told Joy News they are following leads to arrest the two sons.
He said with the father in custody, they are hopeful the sons will be arrested.
He said the police will find out from each one of them what role they played in the whole incident.
