Government has cautioned private health care providers against compromising efficient health care service with profitability.
Government will therefore ensure that private health care providers operate within the accepted standards of practice, and to ensure patients get the best of care when they attend such facilities.
Eastern Regional Minister, Emmanuel Victor Smith sounded the caution on Sunday July 1, 2012, in a speech read on his behalf during the commissioning of the Community Hospital, Oda.
The Community Hospital, Oda, is a 100-bed facility project that has just been added to the Community Group of Hospitals project throughout Ghana, to augment the services of other Hospitals in managing patient care.
The Community Hospital, which currently has branches in Ashongmang-Estates in the Ga East Municipality of Accra and Oda, is equipped to offer all the basic and complicated medical care to its clients.
Ambassador Victor Smith stated that government will continue to support the private sector to complement its efforts in health care delivery for the citizenry, by providing the legal framework and the environment for them to operate.
The Regional Minister announced that his outfit will soon begin to monitor and evaluate activities of existing and upcoming private health care providers in the region, to ensure they operate within the laws.
Chairman for the Board of Directors of the Community Group of Hospitals, Kwasi Kwaning Bosompim announced plans by management to open branches of the hospital in rural communities across the country, to enable the indigenes access first class health care just like those in the cities.
Mr. Bosompim appealed to the people of Oda to see the facility as their own and support it to grow and become beneficial to the society.
