The Prince Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church (PESDAC) in Accra, is set to hold a live musical concert dubbed Family Praise at the National Theatre on August 5.
The bi-annual concert which started about a decade ago is organized by the church’s music department in conjunction with other music groups within the Seventh-day Adventist family.
According a statement by the organizers, the primary aim of Family Praise is to evangelise through music as “well uplifting souls and bringing joy to people from all walks of life.”
The concert, the statement added, “is a non-profit making programme that seeks to draw its audiences’ attention to the power of God’s love and word, and to the warmth and joy of sweet fellowship.”
The August 5 event, which features unique genres of music with a slant towards southern gospel tunes will see several groups - a blend of both the young and old – perform together as one big choir.
Some of the songs, organizers said, will be either composed or rearranged by talented musicians within the groups.
The song ministration will include music genres such as Southern Gospels (Country Style), Gospels and Praise tunes (Mostly arranged by the group), Popular Hymns (re-arranged by group), Local Gospels (arranged to suit a mix of coral and Ghanaian praise).
“Family Praise has over the years grown in all proportions and has become a major event that all those who have had the opportunity to participate in and those who have heard about it look forward to,” the statement added.
The concert will be preceded by an exhibition of Seventh-day Adventist literature, health talks and presentations.
