Ghana’s rap doctor, Okyeame Kwame is eyeing an entry into the Guinness Book of Records with the release of his album, The Versatile Show later this year.
The artiste is making a claim with a song on the album, Mr Versatile, as being the only song in the world made with eight different music genres.
The 2009 Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards said the song was made with Ragga, Hiplife, Adowa-kete hybrid, Hi-Life, Hiphop, Swing, and the chorus was in Blues notes and Rock.
He told Myjoyonline.com in an interview, after his album listening session at Toontoom Studios, owned by DJ Black, that Mr. Versatile is “a song of self expression. It’s me expressing myself to exhibit my creativity and versatility.”
According to him, “I think I’m the first in the world,” to record a song with eight genres.
“I could be wrong but I’ve not heard any such. Nobody has combined genres as many as these in a four minute thing,” he added but said he is confident of being the first in Ghana to record such a track.
The Versatile Show album has 14 tracks on it and according to the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Spokesperson, will be released possibly August this year.
The album has songs such as Sika, One in a Million, White Wedding, Odo, Wo Ara and it features several artistes including; Kesse, Efya, Irene, Raquel, Nana Yaa, Caroline, Vera, She and Edmond.
