Berekum Chelsea Head Coach Hans Van Der pluym says his side can still make it to the semi final stage of the ongoing CAF Champions league despite their heavy defeat to Egyptian side Al Ahly last Saturday.
Chelsea must beat Al Ahly in two weeks time to revive their chances of a semi final place after a humiliating 4-1 defeat to the Cairo based side.
The Ghana side failed to fix their defense and were punished by the experienced Ahly side.
Emmanuel Clottey scored his 12th goal of the competition to leave him just one goal from equaling Stephen Worgu’s record of 13 goals.
According to Hans Van Der Pluym, his side has learnt from their abject display ahead of the return leg in a fortnight.
“This defeat in one way or the other has taught us a lesson and we will work hard and win against Al Ahly at home”. He told JOY Sports
“In the coaching we have to improve a lot because I realized we were lacking something “.
“I will not blame anyone for the defeat because if you go in a match, you win or lose together”.
Also in the competition, defending champions Espérance of Tunisia made it three wins in a row after a 1-0 success over rivals Étoile du Sahel of Tunisia. TP Mazembe beat Zamalek 2-0 and sunshine Stars of Nigeria posted a 2-0 win over ASO Chlef.
