The legendary Liverpool duo of Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler, and Manchester United great, Andy Cole are now set to arrive in Ghana on October 25 for the much touted “Playing for Peace in Honour of Mills project.”
The three star players will lead a crack team of retired English Premier League legends to Ghana for the epic peace match with the Professional Players Association of Ghana.
The match was initially billed for September 15, but had to be rescheduled to October 27.
“Many of the players have never visited Ghana before and so this is a match and a tour which really appeals to all of us,” Steve Black, Director of the Masters Football International Ltd said in a letter confirming their trip to Ghana.
The Playing for Peace and in honour of Mills project which is an initiative of G7 Koncepts in partnership with Joy Sports is to help create awareness for peace ahead of a potentially volatile election in Ghana and to honour the memory of the late President John Mills, a renowned sportsman and a good footballer.
The 16 EPL legends which include Rob Jones (Liverpool) David May (Manchester United) Michael Thomas, (Arsenal, Liverpool) and the Ghanaian born Dutch International George Boateng are to arrive in Ghana on October 25.
