Football in Africa continues to rival other leading continents for honours but a FIFA and CAF instructor, Ben Koufie admits coaching is playing catch up.
The 80 year-old former Ghana Football Association Chairman is hopeful will the game in Africa will become better if local coaches gain a worth of knowledge by learning more about the dynamics of the sport.
Ben Koufie on Thursday in Accra launched his 26-chapter book, ‘Principles of Modern Soccer Coaching’, which shares his experiences in the development of coaching.
“I would like to advice my fellow coaches to be indoctrinated, we have to go to school to be able to reach the level that is expected of the profession,” Koufie said.
“Our football must be accepted as the best if not the best in the World.
“We still have a long way to go, we need to move much faster than we are and this can only be achieved through constant updating of a coach.”
The 174 pages gives readers a detailed and insightful understanding of coaching.
The book which deals with research, training and preparation can help the coaches in their pursuit of knowledge of the game whiles embracing the adventures of trying out tactics and systems.
