Berekum Chelsea Coach Hans Van Der Pluym has confessed his team lacked the needed experience in their debut Champions league campaign. The Ghanaian side beat TP Mazembe 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium as cold comfort after missing out on a semi final qualification spot two weeks ago. However Chelsea’s two wins, three draws and one defeat will earn them some plaudits.“Our inability to make it to the semi finals was mainly based on the lack of experience because sometimes the tension was so high for the players and managing it was a problem for some of them since it was their first time playing in the continental tournament”. He told JOY Sports“Of course we are disappointed because we all wanted to make it to the semi finals but if you play against the likes of Al Ahly, Mazembe and Zamalek and records this feat I believe we did very well”.The club also profited from the campaign in the competition by balancing their books in selling striker Emmanuel clottey who scored 12 goals to Esperance of Tunisia in a Ghanaian transfer fee of 1.5 million dollars
