Ghana will be banned by FIFA from all football related activities if a petition by the Attorney General to begin the liquidation process of the GFA is not withdrawn by Monday, August 27.
The world football governing body issued the warning in a letter sent to Dr Kofi Amoah, head of the Liaison Team charged with running Ghana football in the interim as reforms take place in the aftermath of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas documentary.
After a slow process of going through a constitutional procedure, the Attorney General's office were granted an injunction against officials of the GFA, thereby paving the way for the Registrar General to be appointed the official liquidator of the local football governing body.
However, FIFA believes the process to liquidate the GFA is “undue influence in the affairs of the GFA in contravention of Article 19 of its rules and regulations” and want the government to end it.
If authorities fail to comply with this latest directive, Ghana would be handed a worldwide ban, meaning no club or national team can compete in international competitions.
The action will also prevent Ghana from hosting of the Africa Women's Championship which is scheduled to be held in the country from November.
