The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Berekum Chelsea 5,000 dollars (10,000 cedis) for unsporting behaviours in the CAF Champions League.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Disciplinary Board of the continent’s soccer governing at its sitting last week in Cairo, Egypt handed the sanctions to the Berekum-based club after reviewing their Group B clash against Egyptian giants, Ahly held on August 4, at the Military Stadium.
Berekum Chelsea lost 1-4, incidentally the only defeat in their campaign but had left-back Richard Kissi Boateng sent-off in the first half and received a further three other cautions.
Defensive duo Eric Agyemang, Awudu Nafiu were booked just as midfielder Jordan Opoku in the closing stages of the game.
The continental soccer governing body has since communicated the decision of their Disciplinary Board to Berekum Chelsea through the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Berekum Chelsea narrowly missed out on a place in the last four of the premier continental club championship after finishing behind Ahly and TP Mazembe of DR Congo in Group B.
