Asante Kotoko board member Jerry Asare says the club’s first victory at the weekend in the Glo premier league has paved way for an unending winning streak.
The porcupine warriors finally recorded their first victory in this season’s premier league after beating Berekum arsenal 2-0 at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.
After struggling to find their rhythm in the last four premier league matches the porcupine warriors were on top of their game as Michael Helegbe and Ugandan import Joseph Ochaya scored two second-half goals to end their poor run.
“This begins our winning spree and there was no way we were going to lose the match”, said Jerry Asare
“I’m excited we have recorded our first victory, our supporters were down having drawn the four opening matches and this victory I must say will motivate us to do more in our subsequent matches”.
And the win will serve as a timely boost ahead of their crucial visit to the Tartwa T&A Park where they face leaders, Medeama next Sunday.
The win lifts Kotoko to fifth on the standings and 6 points off the summit.
