Former Black Stars defender now turned football coach, John Paintsil has described publications that he stabbed his ex-wife as untrue.
He said the false publication cost him a fortune.
Mr Painstil, who was a guest on Joy Prime’s Gee Spot with MzGee, admonished the media to be circumspect with their reportage.
“Sometimes the media needs to contact us. I lost a lot of thing in my life, properties, millions of Pounds Sterling because of a single mistake by someone who claims that I stabbed my ex-wife.
"I was at the Police station, no statement, nothing till date but I lost the job so the little that you do can cause damage. I was out of contract for three years but I managed to survive,” he said.
He disclosed that his mother was terribly affected by the negative press.
“I made sure that my parent understood that it’s going to be a lot of good and bad news. Before, my mother used to cry. Now, she is ok you can write from blue to green, she just laughs it off,” the former defender said.
John added that he had a very cordial relationship with his ex-wife and their children have come to terms with the reality.
