A magistrate’s court at Sekondi on Wednesday imposed a fine of three million cedis on Abdula Aziz, a commercial driver, for failing to renew his insurance and driving without license.
Aziz who pleaded guilty, would serve eight months imprisonment in hard labour in default.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Adu Kyeremeh said at dawn on November 10 this year, personnel from the Western Regional Motor Transport Traffic Unit of the Ghana Police Service mounted an operation in the Essikado area.
He said about 5.50 hours, the Police stopped a mini Urvan bus that the accused was driving but the accused could not produce his driving license upon request. Besides, his insurance had expired.
Sergeant Kyeremeh said the accused was arrested and after further investigations he was charged with the offences.
