Salisu Musa, chairman of the NDC Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti Region is said to be in critical condition at the Accident and Emergency Centre of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital following an attack on him by some unidentified assailants Thursday evening.
Bekwai Municipal Police Commander DSP Daniel Amoako, who confirmed the incident to Luv News' Kwabena Ampratwum, said that Mr Musa was attacked at Behinase, a suburb of Bekwai.
He said the victim was returning from nature’s call in the bush when the assailants pounced on him, inflicting multiple machete wounds on his head and hands and fracturing his jaw in the process.
According to DSP Amoako, it is premature to conclude the attack was politically motivated, but he assured the public that the police have mounted a search for the perpetrators of the act.
