The Police in the Eastern Region are holding a 41 year old man for attempting to murder his wife.
Bernard York is alleged to have strangled his wife, Lance Corporal Selina Adua after luring her into a nursing training school guest house at Koforidua.
Deputy Regional Police Commander ACP James Azumah Abass who confirmed the story, told Joy News when the strangulation failed, the suspect stabbed his wife several times and escaped.
The woman was saved by residents who heard her screams.
James Azumah Abass said Mr York went into hiding in Accra but was arrested upon a tip-off.
He said the suspect attempted to murder his wife after accusing her of cheating on him.
He was arraigned before court and will reappear on January 7, 2013.
The victim is said to be responding to treatment.
