The Akyemansa District in the Eastern Region has launched its 10th Anniversary with a series of activities to mark the celebration.
The ceremony was attended by the DCE and assembly members for the area, traditional leaders and citizens from the area.
The district was created in 2008 together with other districts and municipalities by former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Its district capital is Ofoase.
Addressing the launching Ceremony, Minister for Information designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who is also the Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi congratulated the administrative heads and citizens of the district for contributing to elevate the status of the area.
He challenged them to use the period to reflect on the past and forge ahead.

“We shouldn’t be marking this anniversary with only funfairs, let us use the celebration to regain our focus, reenergize ourselves and take stock of our achievements while we plan for the future,” said Oppong-Nkrumah.
The Minister for Information Designate promised to provide more scholarships to brilliant but needy students while procuring medical equipment to support health facilities in the district.
He appealed to the people to support a three bedroom project expected to accommodate the first medical officer stationed in the district.
“We need to make this district attractive to our medical doctor who has dedicated his time to serve communities in and around the Akyemansa district,” he said.
