German club, Bayer Leverkusen, is on the verge of agreeing a deal with 17-year-old Ghana starlet, Fatawu Issahaku.
Previously linked with Dutch giants Ajax, 2020 English Premier League champions Liverpool and Dortmund, the young winger seems to have made a decision on his future, with a medical fitness check at Leverkusen on the cards.
Issahaku caught the interest of European clubs after his stellar display for Ghana at the WAFU B u-17 Cup of Nations held in January.
His performance at the Togo tournament did not only see him move on to the wish lists of some of Europe’s top clubs, but also earned him a call-up to the national U-20 team that played at the AFCON.
He scored twice at the tournament in Mauritania; amongst his goals, a deadly pile driver from long-range, as Ghana pipped Uganda to the trophy.
He finished as the most valuable player in the u-20 AFCON and is now a member of the men's senior national team, the Black Stars.
The winger has been featuring for Tamale Steadfast FC in the Zone 1 of Ghana’s Division One League, but is set to make North Rhine-Westphalia his new home.
Issahaku has also signed a deal with Nike and has received his new set of apparel.
