Some residents of Abesim near Sunyani in the Bono region, have commended the Bono Regional Police Commander, DCOP Godfred Owusu-Boateng, and his team for their resolve to stamp out criminals from the area.
According to the residents, the Police have been alert and strategic with combating criminal activities by unscrupulous people within the town and its environs after the recent alleged murder of three boys by Richard Appiah.
JoyNews has picked up information indicating that the vigilance of the Police has caused the apprehension of a syndicate from Berekum with stolen parts of a construction equipment from the yard of a construction firm on the Abesim-Sunyani road.
Sources have confirmed that the impounded construction equipment parts have since been sent to the Bono regional Police headquarters for preservation, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
However, the Bono regional Police Command is yet to comment on the issue since the investigation has just commenced.
A resident, Edward Kofi Asante, in an interview said, “fear gripped us when we heard of the murder of the three boys but that fear is now eroding because we are learning the Police have arrested some people who attempted to steal the construction equipment and their parts”.

He stated that it is refreshing to see Police led by the DCOP Owusu-Boateng being proactive in detecting crime within the Abesim area.
Another resident, Ama Konadu, said it is good to hear that the Police have regained their supremacy over crime in the Bono region by the rapid arrest of the suspected criminals.
“Thieves and other criminals have been tormenting us here but this current arrest has given us some kind of hope that our Policemen and women are really capable of protecting us,” she intimated.
The residents therefore called on the Bono Regional Police Commander and his team to do more to sustain the momentum that has just started.
