Activa International Insurance Company Ghana Limited (AIIG) has been awarded Insurance Company of the Year at the Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards 2017.
The award was received by Mr Theo Nii Adjei Oninku, Corporate Accountant at Activa International Insurance Ghana.
On his part, Managing Director of Activa Insurance Mr Solomon Lartey expressed great appreciation to the awarding board for the recognition given to his company. He said 'we have been in our little corner doing our best for the company, the insurance industry and mother Ghana. Little did we know that our efforts were being noticed by such an august organisation. We are indeed grateful'
Mr Lartey said Activa's strength lies in its Human Resource base, adding that the company is made up of young talented, skilled and well-exposed professionals who handle various aspects of its operations. We also place a lot of emphasis on human resource development and this has positioned us in such a way as to be able to represent and service some of the world's top insurance brands in Ghana. The MD added.
It would be recalled that Activa's Regional Chief Finance Officer, Mrs Genevieve Tachie recently received the Accounting Personality of the Year 2015 Award organized by the National Women in Finance.
Activa International is the foremost insurer of Corporate Ghana providing insurance solutions in over 48 African countries through its Globus Network.
Apart from Insurance Company of the Year Activa was also nominated for Accounts and Finance Team of the Year - Insurance at this year's Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards which took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Nominees for the Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards 2017 were vetted by a technically competent committee made up of industry consultants from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
In a related development, Activa Insurance has hosted over 46 countries in Ghana to mark the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Globus Network.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Activa Ghana Board Mr Stephen Kyerematen said the Globus Network which transcends Geographical, Legal, Linguistic and Monetary boundaries is the only one of its kind which has been able to provide insurance solutions in 48 out of the 54 countries in Africa.
The seminar which was held at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel and crowned with a dinner dance at the Tang Palace in Accra was attended by bigwigs in the Global Insurance arena. There were participants from Europe, the United States, China and all over Africa.
