Nigerian midfielder Sunday Mba believes Algeria have what it takes to go all the way in this year's Africa Cup of Nations.
The Fennec Foxes got their Equatorial Guinea campaign off to a flying start as they came from behind to see off South Africa 3-1 in their Group C opener on Monday.
The result would have brought plenty of joy to many Nigerians, who saw the Super Eagles fail to secure their place at this year's showpiece after drawing against Bafana Bafana in the final round of AFCON qualifiers.
And Mba, who scored the winning goal in that year's final - against Burkina Faso - is confident Algeria are the team to beat, and backs them to eventually lift the coveted trophy.
"I think Algeria will win the title in Equatorial Guinea because they are very strong," Mba told SuperSport.
"They did not play so well in their first game against South Africa but I expect them to get better."
Mba also feels Algeria's FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi could be a strong candidate for the Player of the Tournament award, saying: "Brahimi has improved a lot and his performances in the (UEFA) Champions League this season have been impressive.
"They also have other good players like (Sofiane) Feghouli and (Nabil) Bentaleb."
