Former Ghana international, Reverend Osei Kofi, believes the Black Stars could be in for a good tournament should they beat Mozambique to advance to the next stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars have had a difficult start to the AFCON campaign in Ivory Coast failing to win any of their opening two group games. Ghana lost to Cape Verde before drawing with Egypt in their subsequent games.
The team has their fate in their own hands ahead of the final group game against Mozambique on Monday, January 22.
Osei Kofi, who was a core member of Ghana's AFCON winning squad in 1963 and 1965 believes there could be a turning point for the national team if they make the knockout round.
"[Winning against Mozambique] will be the beginning of good things to come. Let's win the match first," Osei Kofi told Joy Sports.
According to him, it's the nature of Ghana not to get a good start to the competition but he believes the team will make the cut for the next stage.
"Between the two teams, anyone who wins [would] qualify. So automatically we have to win" he added.
"In the beginning, we don't do well. We have drawn our last match which means in the next match we are going to win. There is no two ways about that."
Ghana's game against Mozambique is scheduled for Monday, January 22, with kickoff at 8:00 pm.
