Head coach of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevac, says it is unfair for the African continent to have just five countries represent them during the World Cup.
Africa's slots at the mundial were increased to five during the 1998 World Cup in France, as part of the total participating countries being increased from 24 to 32.
The only time the continent had more teams at the competition was in 2010 (6) where South Africa were the host nation of the World Cup.
However, Ghana's head coach believes Africa needs more than just five countries at the football festival.
"When you look at the World Cup, I think five teams from Africa is not fair. If you compare to the other continents, we all know how football is developing," he said.
"If you look at the big teams in Europe, most of them have players from Africa and definitely Africa deserves [more slots] because of the passion for football. I believe in the future, Africa will have more teams in the World Cup than five which is the case now.
Rajevac also called for Africa to have more teams at the World Cup considering the popularity of the sport on the continent.
"I don't think it's fair, definitely. If there are 54 countries on a continent where football is the most popular, I strongly believe that they should reconsidered in the future and Africa should have more countries participating in the World Cup."
Ghana, having missed out on the last edition of the World Cup will be hoping to make the tournament in Qatar later this year but will now turn their attention to the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on January 9.
