Fifteen health business start-ups have been awarded funds totalling $150,000 by the Africa Health Collaborative, KNUST, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

The fund is intended to provide these budding entrepreneurs with the necessary resources to scale their operations and make a significant impact.

Seven of these businesses received grants totalling $70,000 for their innovative approaches in addressing critical challenges in areas such as healthcare, technology, and community development.

Each start-up was carefully evaluated and recognised for its potential to drive transformative change.

This year’s awards mark a continuation of the Collaborative’s commitment to fostering health entrepreneurship.

Last year, sixteen health business start-ups benefited from the fund.

In addition to the seven businesses that have already received grants, the remaining businesses shall be awarded grants once they have implemented the recommendations of the panel team.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Health Entrepreneurship pillar of the Collaborative, under the leadership of Prof. Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah.

This pillar is one of three core pillars of the Africa Higher Education Health Collaborative, with a mission to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset and culture that supports innovators in creating meaningful advancements and employment opportunities in the health sector.

Through these interventions, the Collaborative aims to develop resilient health ventures capable of addressing pressing challenges and contributing to sustainable development, according to its officials.
