An agriculturist, on Monday appealed to government to have a firm grip on its agricultural policies to ensure the establishment of agro-food processing industries.
In a press statement, signed by Reverend Dr. Kwesi Biney, President of Mount Horeb Ministry, as part of the celebration of the 2007 National Farmers' Day, he said agro-food processing was necessity for industrial growth in the Brong-Ahafo Region in particular and the country as a whole.
He noted that despite the problems confronting agriculture in Brong-Ahafo Region, food production there wasn't impeded.
Rev Dr Biney mentioned continuous depletion of the ozone layer, pollution, unfavourable weather condition, the lack of adequate inputs, credit and logistic as some of the challenges.
He said "the region continued to feed its people and even produced some beyond its boundaries."
