Angry fishermen in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region have issued a one-week ultimatum to fisheries authorities to restore the supply of premix fuel.
The fishermen said they have been denied the fuel for several days without any reasonable explanation.
They blame the secretary to the District Premix fuel committee, a branch executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) whom they accuse of misappropriating funds for the unavailability of the product.
He however denies the allegations, explaining there was an error in accounting for the proceeds and assured that will be corrected soon.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister for Agriculture in charge of Fisheries, Nii Amasa Namoale has said the two-week ultimatum is uncalled for.
He stated that besides the National Premix Committee, there are other channels the aggrieved fishermen could have channeled their complaints for redress.
He told Joy News there is enough premix in the system and that any issue about misappropriation of funds should be reported to the police.
