Ghana’s smartphone network, Airtel’s involvement in the longest and biggest gospel ministration on the Ghanaian gospel calendar is one that deserves the applauds of many.
For the past seven years, Airtel and Adom FM have joined forces to give Ghanaians a once in a year showdown where the best gospel acts mount the music stage to treat patrons to good music.
For the past seven years, some of the world’s biggest music acts have graced the Airtel Adom Praiz stage to do what they do best. They have all arched their names in the show’s history books.
With the huge successes chalked by the concert, including becoming a show that everyone looks forward to annually, one would ask, what has kept the show as vibrant as it is?
Head of Brands & Marketing Communications at Airtel, Cornelius Kakrabah, explains that the telecoms giant is particularly excited that, the concert’s focus on spirit-filled ministration, consistency in venue choice; the Church auditorium as against any other venue,” have made it a successful one.
Airtel Adom Praiz has witnessed performances from Cece Winans, Ron Kenoly, Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker and now the Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
For the local acts, big names like Ohemaa Mercy, No Tribe, Cecelia Marfo, Joe Mettle, Alabaster Box, Francis Amo, Cwesi Oteng and a host of others have joined in worship and praise at the event.
Mr Kakrabah also notes that artiste selection for the concert is also key to the success story of the event over the years.
He explained that there is always “a vigorous exercise that goes through series of vetting and debates between Airtel & Adom FM before a headline and local supporting artistes are considered for the show,” are selected for the concert.
“At the end of the day, not popularity but spiritual impact serves as the basis for an artiste selection to perform,” the Airtel Head of Brands & Marketing Communications added.
To buttress this point, Mr Kakrabah said that, “Case in point is Cecilia Marfo - who has been featured on the show more than any other local artistes for her powerful and holy-spirit filled performance. She ‘shook’ the Dome at AICC in 2012 with her worship and ministration that got everyone standing all through her ministration.”
All is set for the 2016 edition of the concert on Friday, August 5 at the Perez Dome and aside the headline act, Brooklyn Tabernacle singers, this year’s concert will also witness performances from Francis Amo, Joe Mettle, Obaapa Christy and the Airtel Harmonious Choir.
