A three-unit classroom with a staff common room, office, store and toilet facility has been inaugurated for the twin towns of Ajumakoansa and Brebiano in the Gomoa West District.
Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, the District Chief Executive who performed the inauguration, appealed to parents to take advantage of the interventions government had put in place to educate their children to the highest level.
He said it was only education which could reduce poverty in the communities and urged parents not to toy with their children’s education.
He said President John Atta Mills was so committed to the education of Ghanaian children that almost all his interventions were in education.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah said the President was removing schools under trees and replacing them with permanent buildings, increasing the Capitation Grant by 50%, supplying free exercise books and school uniforms to encourage children to go to school and remain there.
He said the President had fulfilled his part of the responsibility and what was left was for other stakeholders like parents, children and teachers also to play their part.
He commended Mr John Brown Arthur, Managing Director of ISOBEN Company Limited, who executed the project for doing a very good job and on schedule.
