The Executive Director of the African Center for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) has cast doubts on the likelihood of Members of Parliament being decorous on Tuesday when Parliament reconvenes.
Dr Rasheed Draman explained this is due to the posture of both sides of Parliament over the raging disagreements over the Speaker and Supreme Court's opposite rulings.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Monday, October 21, he called on leaders in the country to intervene in the matter, adding that the “President, Speaker and Chief Justice have to have a conversation.”
“Anybody who thinks that this matter is going to be resolved evenly and we can rely on our parliamentarians to show decorum, I mean the posturing that we have heard so far … no,” he said.

This comes as both sides prepare for a tense sitting on Tuesday
It follows the NDC MPs' signal of their intent to occupy the Majority side of the House, despite a Supreme Court directive that stayed the Speaker's ruling to oust four MPs for running as independent candidates ahead of the election.
Dr Draman believes that there will be a showdown in Parliament on Tuesday, adding that “our democracy will be tested tomorrow more than it has ever been tested in this fourth republic.”
According to him, if we are not careful with the trend happening, the little trust in the democracy left will be eroded.
However, First Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, is optimistic that there will be no trouble in Parliament.
The Tolon MP mentioned that they would meet with the Speaker of Parliament to discuss the way forward before Tuesday's session begins.
