The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday predicted that Ghanaians would throng the same path of the United States, in conducting fair and peaceful elections.
He said the lessons of the US elections are losers conceding defeat and winners bridging the political gap are fervent examples, which could be cue for all.
Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he addressed party supporters in Hohoe during the second-leg of campaign tour of the Volta Region, where Mrs Janet Emefa Obro-Adibo, Hohoe-North Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP was introduced.
He said the US electoral example wards off any adventurism and scepticism and guarantees the consolidation of democracy.
The Presidential candidate espoused a three-pronged approach to the creation of wealth through job availability, radical industrialisation regimes and the provision of free and quality education up to the Senior High School (SHS) level.
He said his government would restore the value of the cedi to other major currencies as its continuous weakness is affecting all facets of the economy.
Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that during the Kufuor administration, when his running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumiah was the Deputy Governor at the Bank of Ghana, the cedi equalled the dollar but the situation has deteriorated.
He urged the electorate to vote out the National Democratic Congress otherwise since renewing their mandate would make the economy hopeless.
On Education, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “Our calculations have been done and we are poised in rolling out a free SHS while strengthening access and quality at all levels.”
He asked supporters of the NPP to detest from violence but should remain vigilant on voting day.
The NPP Flag bearer paid a courtesy call on Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi and empathised with him for the devastation visited on his palace by some enraged Zongo youth.
