Two years after the maiden edition was held, the AkwantuPa Experience concert by gospel musician Diana Hamilton makes a comeback on October 5, 2024.
The event organised in partnership with Enterprise Life Insurance, will be held at the Dominion Centre in London.
The initiative is a partnership between Diana's management and Enterprise Life Insurance, as part of promoting the insurance company's AkwantuPa policy, which was introduced in 2017 and targets Ghanaians living abroad.
Speaking at the launch of the event in Accra, Diana Hamilton said last time they did Akwantupa Experience in London was two years ago and within those two years, God has blessed her with many songs that need to be served to her music consumers.
According to her, this year's programme will be another platform for God to bless his children.
"The Experience with Diana Hamilton started in the UK. So it's important that we g back to where it all began when we didn't know where it was going to but we trusted the Lord that told us what to do and 10 years later, it is good that we have done Ghana 10 years but we take it to London because it is the doing of the Lord," she said.
Talking about why the event was launched in Ghana while it would be happening in the UK, she said "it tells how well the Ghana media is doing. These days television, blogging, everything is done online and Africans abroad always look forward to what is happening in Ghana so this is an encouragement to all media houses that whatever you are doing you are being seen."
She also noted that because they are partnering Enterprise Life, it was prudent to let people abroad know about their services and products.
Performing at the 2024 AkwantuPa Experience are Kobbe Mante, Charlotte Appiah, Ada Ehi, among others.
AkwantuPa is a funeral policy designed for Ghanaians living abroad. It is a life insurance solution that enables Ghanaians living abroad to cover their family members who live in Ghana. Upon the passing of the covered family member, the policyholder will receive a lump sum benefit to pay for the funeral expenses, ensuring a dignified farewell for their loved ones without the financial stress often associated with such events.
Since Diana Hamilton was appointed as brand ambassadors for Enterprise Life Ghana in 2021, the two brands have collaborated in various ways to leverage on each other's equity.
Diana Hamilton's music journey started at the age of 14 while working as a backing vocalist for gospel maestro Francis Agyei. She was among the few singers who were featured on Francis Agyei’s ‘Metwere Obotan’ and other projects in the early 90s.
She also worked with Zapp Mallet during the recording sessions and subsequently released her first album, ‘Ɔsoro Bɛkasa’ in 2007. She later won the music industry’s biggest award (Artiste of the Year) 14 years later in the Ghana Music Awards.
Diana Hamilton is known for songs like ‘Ɔsoro Bɛkasa’, ‘Mo Ne Yo’, ‘Awuraye’, ‘Yehowa Behwe’, ‘ Adom’, 'My Meditations', 'The Doing of the Lord', among others.
